Helicopter Tracking Click here to open the Helicopter Tracking page in a new window. Instructions: Each PHL helicopter is fitted with a GPS tracking device. Under normal circumstances, the aircraft's position is updated every four minutes when operational. When viewing the tracking page, each aircraft is shown as rectangular box stating its registration, e.g ZK-IBF. If the box is grey, then the aircraft is not currently flying. The box will be displayed in green if the aircraft is operational. By placing your mouse directly over any tracking node (displayed as a round dot) followed by a left mouse click, the aircraft's positional information at that moment in time will be displayed.
When I view the tracks page with Internet Explorer I get a warning that says "this page contains secure and unsecure items". What does that mean? When the warning comes up instead of clicking 'Yes' click the 'More Info' button. This will bring up some help which can guide you though the steps for allowing what is called 'mixed content'. Down the bottom of the help is an item titled "I'm having trouble using some websites that include mixed content, what do I do?" This tells you to: Go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Internet Options', select the tab titled 'Security', click on the Internet option (the picture that looks like a globe), click on the 'Custom Level...' button, scroll down to an item that is titled 'Display mixed content' (it's about half way down the scroll list) and change the radio button from 'Prompt' to 'Enable'. Click 'Ok', 'Yes' and finally 'Apply' to make sure the setting is saved. Finally close Internet Explorer and then reopen it. You should now not see the prompt when using our tracks pages. It should be noted that this option changes your internet security settings so from now on you won't see a prompt for any site regarding 'mixed content'. This is not a bad thing but just something you should understand. You will be able to tell if a page is 100% secure because there will be a padlock up by the address bar. If there is no padlock then it is either not secure or is a mixed content page like our tracks pages.
